Quran 68
This is Quran chapter 68
In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Nun. By the pen, and what they write, you are not, by the grace of your Lord, mad! And indeed, for you surely is a reward unfailing. And indeed, you surely are of a grand nature! So you shall see and they shall see, which of you is the afflicted.
Indeed, your Lord He knows best who errs from His way; and He knows best those who are guided.
Then do not obey those who call you liar; they wish that you should compromise, then they would compromise.
And do not obey every mean swearer, backbiter, going about with slander, hinderer of the good, transgressor, sinful, cruel, after that base-born. Because he is a possessor of wealth and sons, when Our signs are recited to him he says, 'Legends of the ancients.' We will brand him on the nose!
Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the fellows of the garden when they swore to pluck its fruits in the morning and made no exception; then a visitation from your Lord came upon it while they slept and on the morrow it was as if plucked.
And they called to each other in the morning, 'Go early to your tilth if you would pluck!'
So they set out, saying one unto another in low tones, 'No poor person shall surely enter it today unto you!' And they went early with a determined purpose.
And when they saw it they said, 'Indeed, we have surely erred! Nay, we have been deprived.'
The most moderate of them said, 'Did I not say to you, "Why do you not give glory?"'
They said, 'Glory be to our Lord! Indeed, we were wrongdoers.' Then they approached each other with mutual blame.
They said, 'O woe to us! Indeed, we were outrageous! Perhaps our Lord will give us instead better than it; indeed, to our Lord we humbly turn.'
Thus is the punishment, but indeed, the punishment of the hereafter is greater, if they only knew.
Indeed, for the pious with their Lord are gardens of pleasure!
Then shall We make those who have surrendered like the sinners? What ails you, how do you judge?
Or do you have a book wherein you study? Surely in it you shall have what you choose!
Or do you have oaths from Us, reaching to the Day of Resurrection? Surely you shall have what you judge!
Ask them, which of them will guarantee that!
Or do they have partners, then let them bring their partners if they are truthful.
The day the leg shall be uncovered; and they shall be called to adore and shall not be able! Lowering their looks, abasement shall attack them. And indeed, they were called to adore while they were safe!
So leave me and whoever calls this discourse a lie! We shall lead them on by steps from where they do not know.
And I shall give respite to them. Indeed, My plan is firm.
Or do you ask of them a fee, so they are burdened with debt?
Or have they the unseen, so that they write?
But wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, and be not like the fellow of the fish, when he cried out while he was distressed. Had it not been that favour from his Lord reached him, he surely would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was to be blamed. But his Lord chose him, and made him of the righteous.
And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the reminder, and they say, 'Indeed, he is surely mad.'
And it is nothing but a reminder to the worlds.
