Quran 7-C

This is Quran chapter 7, verses 155 to 206 (End)

And Moses chose from his people seventy men for Our appointment; and when the earthquake seized them he said, 'My Lord! If you had willed, you could have destroyed them before and me. Will you destroy us for what the fools amongst us have done? It is nothing but your trial, with it you lead astray whom you will and guide whom you will; You are our patron! So forgive us and have mercy on us, and you are the best of those who forgive!

And write down for us in this world good and in the hereafter; indeed, we are guided to you.' He said, 'My punishment - I strike with it whom I will; and my mercy embraces everything; and I will write it down for those who fear, and give alms, and those who believe in Our signs, -

Those who follow the messenger - the illiterate prophet, whom they find written down with them in the Torah and the Gospel, bidding them what is reasonable and forbidding them what is wrong, and making lawful for them the good things, and making unlawful the evil things; and setting down for them their burdens and the yokes which were on them; so those who believe with him and aid him and help him and follow the light which has been sent down with him - those are the prosperous.'

Say, 'O mankind! Indeed, I am the messenger of God to you all, - of Him whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, there is no god but He! He gives life and He gives death.' So believe in God and His messenger, the illiterate prophet, - who believes in God and His words - and follow him; that perhaps you may be guided.

And amongst Moses' people is a nation who guide with the truth, and with it they act justly.

And We cut them up into twelve tribes, nations; and We inspired to Moses, when his people asked him for water, 'Strike with your staff the rock!' And there gushed forth from it twelve springs, certainly, each people knew their drinking place. And We overshadowed them with the cloud; and We sent down upon them the manna and the quails, 'Eat of the good things We have provided you.' - And they did not wrong us, but they wronged themselves.

And when it was said to them, 'Dwell in this city and eat from it wherever you will, and say unburdening; and enter the gate prostrating; We will forgive you your sins; - We will increase the good-doers.'

But those amongst them who did wrong changed it for a saying other than that which was said to them; and We sent upon them a plague from the sky for that they were unjust.

And ask them about the town which stood by the sea, when they transgressed upon the Sabbath; when their fish came to them visibly on their Sabbath day; but on the day they had no Sabbath, they did not come to them, thus did We try them for that they were defiantly disobeying.

And when a nation of them said, 'Why do you warn a people whom God would destroy, or punish with severe punishment?' They said, 'As an excuse to your Lord, and that perhaps they may fear.'

So when they forgot what they had been reminded of, We saved those who forbade evil, and We seized those who did wrong with wretched punishment, because they were defiantly disobeying.

So when they rebelled against what they were forbidden, We said to them, 'Be apes, despised.'

And when your Lord proclaimed that He would surely send upon them till the resurrection day, those who would afflict them with evil punishment; indeed, your Lord is surely swift in retribution, but indeed, He is forgiving, compassionate.

And We cut them up in the earth into nations. Of them are the righteous, and of them are the reverse of that; and We have tried them with the good and the bad; perhaps they may return.

And there succeeded after them successors who inherited the Book! They take the goods of this nearer world and say, 'It will be forgiven us.' And if the like goods came to them they would take it! Was there not taken from them a covenant by the Book, that they should not say against God except the truth? And they have studied what is in it; and the abode of the hereafter is better for those who fear - do you not then understand?

And those who hold fast by the Book and are steadfast in prayer - indeed, We will not waste the wages of those who do righteous deeds.

And when We shook the mountain over them, as though it were a shadow, and they thought that it would fall upon them, 'Take what We have given you with strength, and remember what is in it; perhaps you may fear.'

And when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their seed, and made them bear witness against themselves, 'Am I not your Lord?' They said, 'Yes! We bear witness' - lest you should say on the day of resurrection, 'Indeed, We were heedless of this;'

Or you say, 'Only our fathers associated others before, and we are seed after them: will you then destroy us for what the vaindoers did?' -

And thus do We detail the signs; and perhaps they may return.

And read to them the news of him to whom We gave Our signs, but he withdrew from them, so Satan followed him, and he was of those who go astray.

And had We willed surely, We would have exalted him with it, but he inclined to the earth and followed his lust, so his likeness is as the likeness of the dog, if you attack it it hangs out its tongue, or if you leave it, it hangs out its tongue. That is the likeness of the people who say Our signs are lies. So narrate the story perhaps they may reflect.

Evil is the likeness of the people who say Our signs are lies and used to wrong themselves.

Whoever God guides, then he is the guided; and whoever he leads astray - then those - they are the losers.

And certainly We have created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind; they have hearts with which they do not understand; and they have eyes with which they do not see; and they have ears with which they do not hear; those are like cattle, nay, they go more astray! Those - they are the heedless.

And God's are the best names; so call on Him by them, and leave those who pervert His names; they shall be recompensed for what they have done.

And of those whom We have created is a nation who guide with the truth and with it they act justly;

But those who say Our signs are lies, We will bring them down by degrees from where they do not know.

And I will give respite to them. Indeed, my plan is firm.

Do they not reflect? There is no madness in their companion? He is nothing but an obvious warner.

Do they not behold the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and what things God has created, and that it may be, their term has verily drawn near? So in what narration after it then will they believe?

Whoever God leads astray then there is no guide for him. And He leaves them in their rebellion, blindly wandering.

They will ask you about the Hour, when it is fixed? - Say, 'its knowledge is only with My Lord; none shall manifest it at its time but He; it is heavy in the heavens and the earth, it will not come to you except suddenly.' They will ask as though you were privy to it say, 'Its knowledge is only with God, - but most of mankind do not know.'

Say, 'I cannot control profit nor harm for myself, except what God wills. And if I knew the unseen, I would surely have much of good, and evil would not have touched me; I am only a warner and a herald of good tidings to a people who believe.'

He it is who created you from one soul, and made from it its mate that he might dwell with her; and when he covered her she bore a light burden and passed with it; but when it grew heavy they called on God, their Lord, 'Surely if you give us a righteous one surely we shall be of the thankful.'

But when He gives them a righteous one they make for Him partners in what He has given them. But exalted is God above what they associate.

Do they associate what does not create anything, while they are created?

And no help can they give them, nor can they help themselves.

And if you call them to guidance they will not follow you. It is the same on you whether you call them or you are silent.

Indeed, those whom you call on besides God are servants like you. So call on them, and let them answer you, if you are truthful.

Have they feet with which they walk, or have they hands with which they hold, or have they eyes with which they see, or have they ears with which they hear? Say, 'Call upon your partners; then plot against me, and do not give me respite.

Indeed, my patron is God, who has sent down the Book, and He protects the righteous.

And those whom you call on beside Him are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves.'

And if you call them to the guidance they do not hear, and you may see them looking towards you, while they do not see.

Take to pardon, and order what is kind, and turn away from the ignorant;

And if an incitement from the devil incites you then seek refuge with God; Indeed, he is hearing, knowing

Indeed, those who fear God, when an evil thought touches them from the devil, they remember, and lo! They are those who see.

But their brothers they increase them in error, then they cease not.

And when you do not bring them a sign, they say, 'Why have you not chosen it?' Say, 'I only follow what is inspired to me from my Lord; this is insight from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe.'

And when the Quran is read, then listen to it and be silent; perhaps you may obtain mercy.

And remember your Lord in yourself humbly and with fear, and without the loudness of the words, in the morning and the evening; and be not of the heedless.

Indeed, those who are with your Lord are not too big with pride for His service, and they glorify Him, and to Him they prostrate.
