Quran 7-B

This is Quran chapter 7, verses 80 to 154

And Lot, when he said to his people, 'Do you approach such immorality which no one of the worlds has preceded you in?

Indeed, you approach men lustfully instead of women - nay, you are a people who exceed.'

And the answer of his people was only that they said, 'Drive them out of your town. Indeed, they are people who keep pure.'

So We saved him and his people, except his wife, she was of those who remained behind;

And We rained upon them a rain; - so see how was the end of the sinners!

And to Midian their brother Shuaib, he said, 'O my people! Serve God, you have no god other than Him. Verily, there has come to you a manifest sign from your Lord; so fulfil the measure and weight, and do not diminish to the people their things, and do not corruption in the earth after it has been righted. That is better for you if you are believers;

And do not sit in every path, threatening and turning from the path of God those who believe in Him, and craving to make it crooked. And remember when you were few and He multiplied you; and see how was the end of the corrupters.

And if there is a party of you who believe in that which I am sent with, and a party who do not believe, then be patient until God judges between us, and He is the best of judges.'

Said the chiefs of those who were big with pride amongst his people, 'We will surely drive you out, O Shuaib! And those who believe with you, from our town; or you shall return to our religion.' He said, 'What, even if we detest?

Verily, we shall have invented a lie against God if we return to your religion, after God has saved us from it; And it is not for us to return to it except that God, our Lord wills. Our Lord embraces all things in knowledge; on God do we rely. Our Lord! Open between us and between our people with truth, and you are the best of those who open.'

And the chiefs of those who disbelieved amongst his people said, 'If you follow Shuaib, indeed, you shall certainly be losers.'

So the earthquake seized them, and in the morning they lay in their dwellings prone.

Those who called Shuaib a liar, were as though they had not dwelt therein! - those who called Shuaib a liar, they were the losers!

So he turned away from them and said, 'O my people! Verily, I preached to you the messages of my Lord, and I advised you sincerely; so how should I grieve for a people who are disbelievers?

And We have not sent unto a city any prophet except We seized its people with trouble and distress, that perhaps they might be humble;

Then We changed in place of evil, good, until they increased and said, 'Verily, distress and joy touched our fathers;' then We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive. -

And if the people of the towns had believed and feared, surely We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied, so We seized them for what they used to earn.

Are the people of the towns then secure from Our violence coming upon them by night, while they sleep?

Or are the people of the towns secure from Our violence coming upon them in the morning while they play?

Are they then secure from the craft of God? But none feel secure from the craft of God except the people who shall lose.

Is it not a guidance to those who inherit the earth after its people that if We willed We would smite them in their sins, and set a stamp upon their hearts, so they do not hear?

Those cities, We relate to you their news. And certainly their messengers came to them with manifest signs; but they were not to believe in what they called a lie before. - Thus does God set a stamp on the hearts of the disbelievers.

And We did not find in most of them a covenant; but We found most of them certainly, defiantly disobedient.

Then We raised up after them Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs; but they did them wrong, so see how was the end of the corrupters.

And Moses said, 'O Pharaoh! Indeed, I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds;

It is right that I say nothing except the truth about God. Verily, I have come to you with a manifest sign from your Lord; so send the children of Israel with me.'

He said, 'If you have come with a sign, then bring it, if you are of the truthful.'

So he threw his rod down, and lo! It was an obvious snake;

And he drew out his hand, and lo! It was white to the beholders.

Said the chiefs of Pharaoh's people, 'Indeed, this is surely a knowing magician;

He desires to drive you out of your land; - so what do you command?'

They said, 'Put him off and his brother; and send into the cities gatherers,

They will bring to you every knowing magician.'

And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, 'Indeed there surely will be a reward for us if we are victors.'

He said, 'Yes, and indeed you surely will be of those who are near.'

They said, 'O Moses! Will you throw or shall we be the throwers?'

He said, 'Throw,' And when they threw down, they enchanted the people's eyes, and made them dread, and came with a great magic.

And We inspired to Moses, 'Throw down your rod,' And lo, it swallowed what they were falsifying.

And the truth stood fast and vain was what they had done;

And they were conquered there, and turned back feeling small!

And the magicians were thrown down, adoring.

They said, 'We believe in the Lord of the worlds,

The Lord of Moses and Aaron!'

Pharaoh said, 'You believe in him before I give you permission! Indeed, this is surely a plot which you have plotted in the city that you may drive out from it its people, but soon you shall know.

I will surely cut off your hands and your feet from opposite sides, then I will surely crucify you all together!'

They said, 'Indeed, we to our Lord return!

And you do not take vengeance on us, except for that we believe in the signs of our Lord, when they come to us. Our Lord! Pour out on us patience, and cause us to die in submission.

And the chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, 'Will you leave Moses and his people to work corruption in the earth, and to leave you and your gods?' He said, 'We will slay their sons and we will let live their women, and indeed, we are supreme over them.'

Moses said to his people, 'Ask for aid from God and be patient; indeed, the earth is God's! He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants, and the end is for those who fear.'

They said, 'We have been hurt before you came to us, and after you have come to us.' He said, 'It may be that your Lord will destroy your enemy, and make you successors in the earth; and He will see how you act.'

And certainly, We seized Pharaoh's people with the years and scarcity of fruits, that perhaps they might remember;

But when good came to them, they said, 'This is ours;' and if evil befalls them, they ascribe evil omens to Moses and those with him; their evil omens are only with God, but most of them do not know.

And they said, 'Whatever sign you bring us with which to enchant us, so we will not believe in you.'

Then We sent on them the flood and the locusts and the lice and the frogs and the blood, - signs detailed; but they were big with pride and were a sinful people.

And when the plague fell on them, they said, 'O Moses! Call on your Lord for us, because He has a covenant with you; indeed, if you remove the plague from us surely, we will believe in you; and surely we will send with you the children of Israel.'

But when We removed from them the plague until a term which they should reach, lo! They broke their promise.

So We took vengeance on them, and drowned them in the sea, for that they said Our signs were lies and were heedless of them.

And We gave as an inheritance to the people who had been weak, the eastern parts of the land and the western parts of it, which We had blessed; and the good word of your Lord was fulfilled on the children of Israel, for that they were patient; and We destroyed what Pharaoh and his people had made and what they had built.

And We took the children of Israel across the sea; and they came upon a people devoted to idols they had, they said, 'O Moses! Make for us a god as they have gods.' He said, 'Indeed, you are ignorant people.

Indeed, these - destroyed is what they are given to; and vain is what they have done.'

He said, 'Shall I seek a god for you other than god, while He has preferred you over the worlds?'

And when We saved you from Pharaoh's people who were afflicting you with evil torment, killing your sons, and letting your women live; and in that was a great trial from your Lord.

And We appointed for Moses thirty nights, and completed them with ten, so the time appointed by his Lord was completed to forty nights. And Moses said to his brother Aaron, 'Be my vicegerent amongst my people, and do right, and do not follow the way of the corrupters.'

And when Moses came to Our appointment, and his Lord spoke to him, he said, 'My Lord! Show me, - that I may look on you!' He said, 'You cannot see Me; but look upon the mountain, and if it remains in its place, then you shall see Me;' but when his Lord appeared to the mountain He made it dust, and Moses fell down in a swoon! And when he came to himself, he said, 'Glory be to you! I turn repentant to you, and I am the first of the believers.'

He said, 'O Moses! Indeed, I have chosen you over mankind with My messages and with My words, so take what I have given you, and be of the thankful.'

And We wrote for him in the tablets an admonition of everything, and a detailing of everything: 'So take them with firmness, and command your people to take the best of it. I will show you the home of the defiantly disobedient;

I will turn from My signs those who are proud in the earth without right; and if they see every sign they shall not believe in it, and if they see the path of rectitude they shall not take it for a path; but if they see the path of error they shall take it for a path; - that is because they have said Our signs are lies and were heedless of them.'

And those who say Our signs and the meeting of the hereafter are lies, - vain are their works: shall they be rewarded except for what they have done?

And Moses' people after him took of their ornaments a calf - a body having a lowing sound; did they not see that it could not speak with them, nor guide them in the path? They took it and they were unjust;

And when regret overcame them and they saw that they had indeed gone astray, they said, 'Indeed, if Our Lord does not have mercy on us and forgive us we shall surely be of those who lose!'

And when Moses returned to his people angry and grieved, he said, 'Evil is what you have done in my place after me! Would you hasten on the command of your Lord? And he threw down the tablets and took his brother by the head dragging him to him. He said, 'Son of my mother! Indeed, the people weakened me and almost killed me; so let not the enemies rejoice over me, and put me not with the unjust people.'

He said, 'My Lord! Forgive me and my brother and enter us into your mercy: and you are the most merciful of the merciful.'

Indeed, those who took the calf, there shall reach them wrath from their Lord, and abasement in the life of the world; and thus do We reward those who are forgers.

But those who have done evil deeds, then turn after it and believe, - indeed, your Lord, after it, is surely forgiving, compassionate.

And when the anger subsided in Moses, he took the tablets; and in its inscription was guidance and mercy for those who dread their Lord.
